Hey, I am T R KHAN…introducing our campus Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, one of the most famous agricultural university in Bangladesh. It is situated at Salna in Gazipur district on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, 5km from Security Printing Press and Ordinance Factory, 5km from Joydebpur Chourasta and 40km away from Dhaka city. The campus covers an area of 187 acres of land including about 50 acres of well developed experimental area.

It is the 13th public university established in 1998 with the act (act no.16) promulgated by the parliament of People Republic of Bangladesh. The university was, in fact, established by transforming the Institute of Postgraduate Studies in Agriculture (IPSA) in 1983. In 1991, IPSA started its truly course credit based MS and Ph.D. program. In a short period IPSA was nationally and internationally recognized as the “Centre of Excellence” for its outstanding performance in its Term based Course Credit System of Graduate Program and Research. With the commitment of keeping its status of excellence, BSMRAU has been continuing the former Graduate program of IPSA. In an expansion process of the university and to meet up the demand of quality graduate in agriculture, BSMRAU, after a decade of its successful operation of Graduate Program, launched Undergraduate program adopting the similar term based course credit system under the faculty of Agriculture in 2005 to offer Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture [BS (Agri.)].After that, a new faculty was started with the demand of time named Faculty of Fisheries as BS program in 2009. In 2011, another faculty was started named Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science. The university has 19 academic departments and a unit. At present there are about 100 faculty members, 55 officers, 115 class three employees and 80 class four employees, where as there are about 750 students studying in BS, MS and PhD level.

For its excellence in agriculture, the varsity already got prestigious International IDB (Islami Development Bank) Award in 2011. Besides, BSMRAU is admired by UGC. Eventually it is a unique, calm, quiet and non-political campus, most suitable for academic pursuit.
